Ingredients:
1/2 C butter
2/3 C hot water
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg
1/2 C brown sugar
3 C flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 inch by 9 inch pan or 5-6 mini Bundt pans. Melt butter in hot water. Add molasses to melted butter water. Stir in egg.
- Mix flour, baking soda, salt and spices. Gently mix in wet ingredients. Pour into prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool and cut into small squares. Serve with dollop of cream cheese spread.
Cream cheese spread- Cream together 8 oz cream cheese, 1/2 C powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla and 2 Tbsp half and half.
