Ingredients:
1 1/2 lb ground beef
3/4 C fine bread crumbs
1/2 C grated parmesan cheese
1 egg
1/4 C chopped fresh basil
2 cloves minced garlic
1/4 C finely minced red onion
1/4 tsp salt and pepper
2 14 oz cans diced tomatoes in juice
1 small onion, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp sugar
1 Tbsp minced fresh basil
1 Tbsp minced fresh oregano
1/2 C red wine
salt and pepper to taste
grated parmesan to top
- Mix all meatball ingredients together in a bowl with your hands. Form into small balls. Bake at 375ยบ for 30 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Set aside.
- In saucepan combine all of sauce ingredients except parmesan. Simmer over low heat for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. During the last 15 minutes add the meatballs to the sauce to heat.
- Cook pasta of your choice according to package instructions. Drain. Top with sauce, meatballs and grated cheese.
